This article was very interesting to read and learn about the history of how english people and ymca’s brought sports to the Brazilian people. Brazil has had a lot of success in sports, especially soccer. But this article is more on the process of how sports got started in Brazil. The process was not exactly easy for the ymca and english engineers, it took time to get people really involved in the sports in Brazil. “As was the case in many other countries. It was English who introduced what would become Brazil’s most popular sport.”(Guedes, 2595). This just comes to show the impact English people had on Brazil by showing them the game or soccer and other sports. It was really tough for the ymca coming to Brazil. Spreading christianity and teaching Brazilians sports. But once it was finally grounded into Brazil it had a big impact on communities and getting organized sports started.
